Annuities? Learning what I can

Well my husband and I are doing some research about a immediate annuity. An immediate annuity is suppose to provide income immediately in retirement. There are a lot of pros and cons with this idea. I am doing a lot of research before I make a decision. I think it is really based on every one's individual situations. For my situation it has more pros than cons.
